Production, Distribution, and Exhibition
The scale of my movie is not all that important to me because I want my quality to be good however I would like to have the best quality and I feel the best way for this to happen is to make the film a large scale project. I would like the project to be financed by New Line Cinema because they are reliable and produce plenty of films that do well on a well priced budget. On top of the fact they are reliable they have also produced multiple of my own personal favorite films and I think it would be interesting to be funded by the same company. For the people I would want to star in my film I would like to have Jake Gyllenhaal and Brad Pit start together because I think they could play the vibe I want for the film perfectly. I would also like to have a few notable actors make an appearance like Jesse Eisenberg or Michael Cera just for a little bit of diversity in acting styles. A few more thing I would like to incorporate are unique locations like an old abandoned yet still in-tact casino or large scale building for the movie to take place in so it creates and un-settling yet familiar vibe/feeling for the viewers. I would like to do this because personally these locations stick out make movies memorable to me. A lot of these factors are what make movies stick out to me especially since I love this feeling in movies so the production phase is kind of biased rather than what may actually make the film what it could really be.
Since I chose to make my film large scale I would like to have 20th Century Studio's distribute my film because of their popularity and influence, this means they already have a trust worthy background and a fanbase that supports them. On top of their background the fact they are so successful allows for them to not have to worry about the financial loss they would face if the movie were to fail. However having them distribute the film would not come with out any problems, since they would hold the main power over the success of the film they would be who takes away a majority of the profit. This is contributed to the fact they are taking most of the risk as well as the fact they are the ones who are in the position to make the film a success based on the release. With this in mind I would like my film to have a wide release in theaters before moving to streaming services because it would help create hype for the movie which would be cool to allow people to see it as well as generating ticket sale income. I think it would also be cool to have a unique merchandise item like a popcorn bucket or a collectors cup. When discussing how I want my film promoted I want to have a sort of mysterious trailer that doesn't reveal too much information as well as try to have a popular and positive social media trend/hype train. An example of something that I would like to copy would be Marty Supreme because despite many people not seeing the trailers they were interested in the movie because of the clout social media brought it.
If my movie were to have the hype I wished for I would want my film to come out in theaters and stay for at least three weeks because that gives people plenty of time to experience the movie in theater while still not being in theaters for too long. For the success of the movie it would heavily rely on the social media trend working out how I would hope. Despite having a trailer many people are not engaged in them and skip past them that's why I think social media would be the reason the film either succeeds or fails. After the release the people who would be first to make money would be 20th Century Studios and New Line Cinema because of how important their contributions were and the fact they put so much money into it and then next would be me and after would be the actors and film crew. Depending on the success of the film I hope to make money from the collectors items and merchandise that would follow the release.
