Semester 1 Reflection

Media Studies so far has been an incredible experience so far and I have learned a wide spectrum of new things that I have been fortunate enough to be able to take into account when watching any sort of tv now and share with others. The time I've spent in media studies has taught me that media more than just shows and movies but that it is also a creative outlet for directors and film staff as-well as anyone associated with whatever the project may be. Film and Media helps put what they are thinking and imagining into a surreal world that they can do whatever they want with, It allows them to tell a story through pictures and videos that sometimes cant be put into words. After learning what media studies truly is I felt inspired and it quickly drew me in to learning everything that it had offer. This spark is what helped me to start paying deeper attention to films and shows outside of solely media studies and really break them down for what they really are. What I mean buy this is how I'm now able to analyze films and the work truly put into them, for example looking at the cuts, transitions, lighting, editing and sound it allows me to dive deeper into the story and how cultivating and captivating it really is.

On top of being able to look deeper into what film really is I got to experience first-hand how difficult and long the process truly is when I worked on my most recent project "Film Editing". This project was about a week long and allowed us to experiment with different transitions while also trying to figure out proper lighting, angles. This project showed me the challenges that come with creating even just a small project, this project completely changed my outlook on the creations because it gave me insight into what really goes on behind the scenes. Even though the process was slightly stressful it was important because it helps to give me an idea of what to expect for future projects as-well as my final project.

Something within this class that I'm looking forward to is my future projects however I'm looking forward to seeing my progress on my final project. I'm looking forward to this due to all of the hard work I've put in to improve my skills since I have first started this class. This is important to me because of my interest in film as well as how determined I am to improve. Overall I have enjoyed my time in this class and I'm looking forward to seeing my improvement but also getting to learn new skills and words as well as new aspects of film and applying them in other aspects of film.
